About Middleswarth BBQ Chips

You must be wondering what these chips are and who are the founders so let me shed light on this as well.

Meet The Founders Ira Middleswarth & Son, Inc.

Bob Middleswarth founded Ira Middleswarth & Son, Inc. in 1942. Bob worked in his two-bedroom building next door to his parent’s home in Beavertown, Pennsylvania. At the time, Bob and his mother Lottie, along with his two other employees, were producing about 15 pounds of chips an hour.

The product proved popular, and more and more people recognized the superior taste and quality of Middlesworth potato chips. Bob’s father, Ira, later joined the business, and in 1959 the company expanded and moved to a new location on Orange Street in Beavertown. The company was then incorporated as Ira Middleswarth & Son, employing 20 workers and producing about 350 pounds of potato chips an hour.

The company continued to grow and in 1961 a new factory was built in Middleburg, Pennsylvania. At that time, Bob Middlesworth was appointed president. The company operated in its 40,000-square-foot building, where 44 employees produced 2,600 pounds of potato chips per hour. In 1974 they expand the facility with a new fryer and packing room.
