Why You’ll Enjoy This Homemade Cracklin’ Oat Bran Cereal

The cereal sold at grocery shops has more components than the breakfast casserole. It also includes natural fiber, wheat flour, and malt flavoring, which makes it gluten-free. The handmade Cracklin’ Oat Bran Cereal recipe eliminates palm, palm kernel, and/or soybean oil laced with TBHQ and soy lecithin.

  • 1 cup oatmeal bran

Cracklin’ Oat Bran Cereal Recipe

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F
  • In a large food processor, combine all of the dry ingredients and pulse 5-6 times. Next, combine the other ingredients in a food processor and blend on high till the mixture is wet
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the mixture out. A good, thin coating is desirable so that it may “dry” out while baking. That is what causes it to “crackle”
  • Time to Bake
  • Bake for about 25 minutes in a preheated oven
  • Remove the cereal from the oven and set it aside to cool. Break up the granola and store it in a sealed jar
  • Alternatively, while the cereal is still warm from the oven, carefully cut (score) this into small rectangles but don’t split it
  • Put a chopstick point into the center of each piece and gently wiggle it about to attempt to mimic the hole in the center. While the cereal is still hot, it will be mushy and flexible. Allow it to become cool and firm before breaking it apart
  • The handmade version will not have the properly formed lovely little “O’s” that Kellogg’s does. At the very least, we know exactly what’s in our cereal and how fresh it is

This Paleo Cracklin Oat Bran resembles a popular cereal. Grain-free is yet as wonderful! Breakfast that is quick, nutritious, and delicious!

Cracklin Oat Bran evokes so many pleasant memories for me. As the youngest of five children, boxes of cereal vanished quickly. A tiny box of this stuff is pricey, and my parents would never buy it for all of us. It was my father’s favorite, and when he got any, he hid it in his bedroom.

On rare occasions when we were alone in the morning, we would split a bowl. It’s still one of my favorites; I simply don’t buy it because the ingredients aren’t very nice. It’s loaded with corn syrup, soybean, and other things that I try to avoid.

My father just visited and wanted a handmade variation of this cereal while he was here. I enjoy being able to transform something harmful into something healthy and unprocessed. I already knew what was in it, but I clearly cut out the grains and bran to keep it paleo. Because Paleo is a grain-free diet.

More About Cracklin Oat Bran Cereal

I utilized almond flour as the basis and it worked great. Other important components include coconut, molasses, and cinnamon. I replaced the original’s soybean oil with coconut oil, which is considerably healthier. All of the components complement each other nicely and provide the same flavor and texture. If you’ve seen the original, you’ll know it’s a large, dense book.

It’s quite crunchy, as is my version. I am thrilled with the way it turned out. My father liked it and brought the entire batch home, which makes my heart glad!!

This is quite simple to prepare. Making homemade cereal may appear difficult or time taking, but it is not. Everything is combined in a single mixing basin and cooked for less than one hour. So, It may be kept in an airtight container and eaten over the course of a week. However, You can create this if you can bake cookies or cake—much it easier!

Ingredients Present in it

The following are the ingredients: Almond flour, Golden Barrel Blackstrap Molasses, Golden Barrel Coconut, finely shredded coconut, coconut cream, syrup, cinnamon, salt, and an egg. In case you’re unfamiliar with the ingredients, I’ll explain them briefly. So, almond flour is available at Trader Joe’s, most health-food stores, and even many large chain stores.

Because the cubes are so few, I choose finely grated unsweetened coconut, which blends wonderfully. Because This can be found beside the other coconut or in the “health” section of supermarkets. Unrefined coconut sugar has a lower glycemic index than granulated sugar. 

Cracklin Oat bran cereal is typically found on a higher shelf, directly above normal sugar. Of course, these products may also be purchased online. They are all items that I currently keep in my cupboard.

In a large mixing basin, combine all of the ingredients, then spread equally on a parchment-lined sheet tray. Spread it as evenly as possible so that it all cooks at the same rate.

Take it from the oven after 30 minutes then cut this into squares. I usually cut it into 118 strips. A tiny knife is preferable for this, and you’ll have to scrape some grain off the blade as it accumulates. Flip over all of the squares and transfer the outside bits to the center and the center ones to the edge. This ensures that they cook evenly. Bake for a further 15 minutes. As they cool, they will harden.

I recommend you try this cereal even if you’ve never had the original. It’s crispy, sweet, and really fantastic! The mix of cinnamon, molasses, and coconut is delicious and makes an excellent breakfast or snack.

  • 1/2 cup Cracklin’ Oat Bran cereal, finely ground
  • 6 tablespoons melted unsalted butter


  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground cereal and melted butter until equally covered and wet
  • Fill a 9- or 10-inch tart or pie pan halfway with the mixture and press evenly with a spoon, the flat bottom of a cup, or your fingertips
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, or until the crust is a darker shade of brown and feels dry. Keep an eye on it and lower the oven lower if it’s browning too soon
  • Allow to totally cool before filling
